Coordinated Entry is a way for people experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless to find housing and get connected to resources that are available in their community. If someone is experiencing homelessness, they can contact the Coordinated Entry Lead for their coalition and get started on the pre-screening process.

Once that is complete, they get an assessment called the VI-SPDAT (Vulnerability Index – Service Prioritization Decision Assistance Tool) which generates a score based on a person’s vulnerability. That score will then help place them on a prioritization list, and those with the highest score and vulnerability are served first once a program opening becomes available. However, completing the assessment does not guarantee housing or program eligibility.
